The Saracens invade Spain again, but they seem content to compose music and watch the dancers.

A young boy is hired as a lift attendant in a grand hotel when his mother dies. To fulfill his dream, he takes part in a competition organized by the manager, and wins 1st prize: a two-day stay in one of the princely suites. He wants to share the experience with his young girlfriend, the florist, but discovers that she has betrayed him and returns to her elevator.

When their father dies, Louise, Fabien, and Estelle feel helpless as they confront the task of taking care of their schizophrenic brother Jacques. For Louise, the experience will be life-changing.

It's 1953. As a child Michel Drucker, 11, is more interested in the Tour de France than school. The years pass and his brothers go on to have successful lives while Michel racks up failure after failure, to his parents' great disappointment. One evening in 1965, however, his father is amazed to find that the son who has caused him so much worry is presenting a sport program live on TV.
